  • The Native performers infuse contemporary genres of dance and music with traditional elements from their tribal heritage. Through artist interviews and performances, six profiles document the effort to bring this new "Native Fusion" genre to mainstream performing arts.

    Artists' recollections and outreach efforts set-off an exploration of health and fitness issues in American Indian Communities--both on the reservation and in urban settings.

Press Release: Public Media Content Fund Submissions Open for 2014  (1/6/2014)
Applications must be submitted electronically by Friday, March 14, 2014, 11:59 p.m. Central. Projects in any phase of production are eligible to apply for funding with Vision Maker Media. Awards for research and development range from $5,000 to $20,000; awards for production or completion can be up to $100,000; and, new media awards range from $5,000 to $20,000. Vision Maker Media does not fully fund programs, and awardees are required to seek additional funding from other sources. Programs selected for funding will be offered additional distribution opportunities including educational and home DVD distribution through www.visionmakermedia.org.
